I can remember when I was first given a surfboard way back when I was around 7, that this strange yet appealing device would need to be worked out, played with or whatever. I didn't really know too much about this surfing thing but I knew it looked fun. Little did I know the adventures, lifestyle and life that the SURFBOARD would provide for me!

No I'm not a professional surfer although back in the day after spending every waking moment learning to ride the thing I did end up competing in ACC and WQS level events until one sunny afternoon I injured myself and spent 5 months plus out of the water wondering what to do with myself. I remember always finding myself stopping and watching my mates surf their waves, ride tubes and always think wow that would make a great photo!!! There was my solution for the next few months. I bought a canon EOS 630 when I was around 21 or so, had a housing made for it and the rest is history as they say. I was hooked, I actually managed a really lucky shot of Drew Courtney second roll in and got myself a Poster with Tracks Mag making me one very happy grommet. I've pretty much been shooting for Tracks ever since.

I have been very fortunate over the few years or so being given opportunities to shoot and travel with some of the best surfers in the world, and along the way I have met many many nice people and travelled to some amazing places…

It's an ever evolving sport taking photos and I guess that's what keep its interesting for all of us that do, whether you do it for a living or not especially now we are DIGITAL who knows what the future holds!! There are so many great photographers in the world, and it's an exciting time to own a camera. For the minute I am loving what I am doing and that is all that matters I think.
