Growing up in the high-density environment of Sao Paulo, Brazil, Fernanda dreamed of living by the sea to enjoy a coastal lifestyle. By the time she began bodyboarding at 11 years of age, it became clear to her that the ocean would provide the focus in her life. In her late teens she began planning to travel around the world and was particularly attracted to Australia where she met her future husband. Together they have travelled to many of the world class surfing destinations and continue to do so, instilling in their children the love of travelling, meeting new people and enjoying different cultures.
Fernanda is mainly a self-taught artist, but has trained with renowned artist Leann Hansen on the South Coast of Australia, Sonja Georgeson of Manly and has completed several intensive courses with the National Art School in Sydney with renowned lectures. Her paintings of waves and seascapes have attracted public and private commissions in Australia, Brazil, Portugal, France and the United States of America.
Her love for the ocean is reflected in her paintings and her aim is to bring to canvas perspectives of the sea that only a surfer could explain. Fernanda approaches her seascapes preferring to explore them with the absence of people so that viewers can imagine themselves experiencing the excitement, power and beauty of the ocean without distractions.
Fernanda would work from photographs and can be commissioned to create an original artwork that brings the sea into your surrounds.
