Much of Robert's personal work utilizes polaroid film and alternative photographic techniques, capturing surf life and culture on instant film before Polaroid perhaps disappears forever.
The camera of choice is the 1970's Polaroid SX-70, coupled with the now extinct Time Zero SX-70 instant film. He is drawn to its unique colour values and washed out hues, the almost sun-bleached instant photographs have an instant patina. Polaroid photography has a commonality with surfing, like each wave it is a one off, idiosyncratic and unrepeatable.
Robert's work is displayed and sold on an ongoing basis at the Driftwood Gallery Newquay, England's only dedicated surf gallery.
